autumn series 2026–present. these recent works are inspired by late summer and fall storms here in new mexico. the usually clear, barren blue sky gives way to dramatic formations of slow-brewing but fast-moving storms. at this time of year, the sky becomes a theater. i'm using and reworking materials already scattered around the studio. notes of grounding and rediscovery. the creation is quick and spontaneous, with deep currents of human survival instinct.

summer series 2026. very dry. harsh heat, weighing heavy. i stay with each piece longer here. i listen to its late-night songs while the earth cools at night. the scent of fire nearby. destruction and rebirth. haze and the unknown.

winter series 2026. developing a new technique. days are cold and short, but the light is very bright, very clear. the works are small. currents of rich, colorful literature. notes: euphoria—a state of mind fully aware of itself.

project: duality. i was exploring the relationship—duality >< oneness—and in the process grew fascinated by the tension between the two. the same oneness that holds things together also separates them. the tension that creates the tragic beauty of life.

final artwork created during an eight-week hybrid art residency (makeartnotcontent.com).

autumn + winter obsession. oil paint. 2025. these works were created slowly, allowing for an indulgence in the tradition of oil painting. simplicity of metal. its language is quiet and it knows. unmistakably, metal and oil paint love each other.

2023–2024 ekāgratā: one-pointedness. to gather scattered attention into one, revealing another way of experiencing reality. these selected works are from a period when my access to metalworking tools was very limited. my photography practice met metal in an austere way. scent of frankincense in a cathedral. dusty, cluttered back rooms. somber cello.
